Pavel Zinga aka Monotype began spinning at the age of 19. At that time, he concentrated only on CDs. He also co-promoted parties called Progress, and House Clas-X, in his hometown of Decin, where he also played. He presented a wide spectrum of new and old groundbreaking tracks from producers such as Leftfield, Orbital, Aloof, Sabres of Paradise, Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Kenny Larkin, Tyree Cooper etc.

2001 became the year Pavel played out on record decks, and he never looked back. From the very beginning he took to the dark sounds from such producers and labels as Downwards, Surgeon, Ruskin and other representation of the Black Country Sound and uncompromising yet at the same time intelligent techno. His growing talent was on display mainly at parties in Decin.

The big break came when Monotype moved to the Czech capital, Prague, where he became more and more active in his cooperation with Techno.cz, where he is now a resident reporter. Nearly all now know his reporter nickname "Pav" and his direct, yet objective reports from smaller and larger parties.

In April 2003, Monotype accepted an offer to become an official Techno.cz DJ, thus enlarging the prestigious booking agency, responsible for other massive Czech names such as Agent, Pavel Krejdl, Nika77, Matrix (Fishguard), Face and Deepdance. In Spring 2004, Monotype became the second most booked DJ from Techno.cz Booking.

His sets are full of dynamic loops, and dark elements. Monotype fits into a category of DJ which follows intellectual and inspiring forms of techno. However, he also is a big fan of the minimal techno and clicks´n´cuts styles.

Monotype is a resident DJ of Techno.cz´s night, Connect Yourself, and the Connect 2 nights. He is most found with his record bag in smaller, more intimate clubs, which have a more regional focus. He likes to help with parties he holds close to his heart, by helping with the PR and marketing.

Pavel´s career has grown in stages, but in the last year he has seen what can only be described as the turning point. Not only has he had the chance to play out at one of the most famous clubs in the world...

So quickly is career growing, that Monotype now has bookings in the UK and Hungary. He continues to push hard to make his sound heard, as it should be.


Monotype now belongs to three prestigious "booking agencies", Techno.cz, AON and Encore Booking. AON is not only responsible for a number of smaller events in the Czech Republic, but also for its extensive roster, which is responsible for Atomic Jam resident Chris Finke, Bugged Out! & Voodoo resident Brendan Long, Hi-Fi Princess, Miss Innocent, Angela Flame etc.
